Job Purpose

Duties include but are not limited to:

Plant, cultivate, and pack tomatoes and cucumbers in environmentally-controlled glass greenhouse structures. Inspect, clean, sort, pack and load harvested products. Tasks include planting and interplanting. The plants are supported by twine that is twisted around the main vine and suspended from wires approximately 12 feet high. Regular duties include taking off new side shoots, lowering the plants to accommodate the new growth at the top of the plant, twisting the twine around the new growth, snapping a small plastic clip ring around the vine and twine to ensure the plant stays linked to the twine, removing bottom branches of leaves to ensure the balance between vegetation and fruit stays in balance, pruning the clusters of new blossoms to the correct number of flowers for the particular variety, preparing unplanned greenhouses for planting and tearing out old plants.

Job Qualifications

Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. frequently
Must be able to work 10 – 12 feet off the ground on electric trolleys used to reach the top of the vines
Capable of working in extreme temperature variances with high levels of humidity
Able to use hand tools such as pruning shears, knives, etc.
Cannot be allergic or afraid of bees (bees are used in the greenhouse to pollinate the plants)
Willing to work flexible work schedules including but not limited to extended hours, Holidays and weekends
Agricultural experience preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Starting pay is $8.00 per hour. In addition, we offer piece rate pay that can substantially increase your hourly rate.
